The enjoyment of learning and appreciating music can begin at an early age, and I’ve been privileged in being part of that for a large number of pupils. I’ve been teaching for over 10 years now, and it never ceases to amaze and delight me. I take pride in keeping in good and regular contact with pupils, parents and schools, and I strive to be a good instructor in the development of each individual musical talent.

For me, the best thing is seeing pupils grow and develop as musicians, and then to see them take their music out into the wider community, doing concerts, forming bands, putting on their own gigs!

I specialise in teaching a wide range of contemporary music styles – rock music, blues, jazz – to students from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5. I have worked as an instrumental teacher for over 10 years, starting with the Cardiff & Vale Music Service, and with the South Gloucestershire Music Hub since 2005.

I provide instrumental tuition to students on guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. I work with students of all abilities from beginner to experienced, using a number of techniques and adapting to all learning styles, building towards grade-standard recitals and live performances. I now have had a number of pupils engaged in the grade exam system (through Trinity, using the Rock School syllabus) and currently have a 100% successful pass rate!

I have also provided instruction and support for songwriting and composition.

I have experience in providing workshops for groups of young people in music, composition and performance.

I am also available as a private music teacher, providing instruction for all ages on guitar, drums, bass and keyboards, specialising in rock and blues styles. I can also provide tuition for the development of songwriting and musical theory. If you are interested in receiving lessons, please contact me for further details.
